I'm Andrey Polischuk — a full-stack developer, DevOps engineer, sysadmin, and occasional game developer. Online I go by s4ndw1ch_, a handle I picked at fourteen and have been too attached to ever change.
I grew up in Ukraine, learned to code around 16 by modding games and breaking things, and have been doing it professionally for about three years. I like systems that are honest about what they're doing, tools with a clear mental model, and software that stays out of your way.
Currently working as a full-stack developer at a consultancy, mostly in the SAP ecosystem — CAP CDS, Fiori Elements, UI5, and a surprising amount of custom OData magic. Before that: Django backends, React frontends, the usual chaos.
I'm available for work — if you're building something interesting, especially in Rust, TypeScript, or systems/infra, I'd like to hear about it.
Outside work I maintain halberd and glacier, two open-source tools I built to scratch my own itches. I also work on northwind, a sailing roguelike that I've been procrastinating shipping since 2024, and rimlight, a browser-based WebGPU shader editor.
I write about all of this on writing/ — a mix of technical essays, devlogs, and TILs. I try to write things I wish existed when I was searching for them.
I think most software is too complicated, most abstractions leak, and most rewrites are a mistake. I've done two rewrites. One shipped. One became an essay.
Favourite tools: neovim, tmux, ripgrep,
fish. Running Arch on my main machine. NixOS on servers.
I don't want to talk about my editor config but I will if you ask.
